Fashionista: maternity style

Fashion through the Trimesters! ha ha ha
First Trimester....and not one of these items is a maternity piece of clothing!
(everything was from H &M, Charlotte Russe, Old Navy, or Forever 21!)...
as I searched through my closet today to find a shirt to wear...
my big belly...has grown even bigger....
I had about 4 shirts to choose from...
ha ha ha ha...
that is the true sense of creativity...
when you've got nothing to wear and make some outfit, out of that "nothingness"....
ha ha ha ha
My favorite pregnancy and ANY time items of clothing:
legging
long shirts over the leggings
boots
hats
and any shirts from American Apparel
and all the stores I mentioned above!  hee hee

I'm thinking of doing a maternity fashion haul video...would that be interesting!?! Let me know what you think?

huge love from kandee and her getting even bigger belly....

They said WHAT!?!

My precious Jordan is a melting pot of nationalities...from me he gets a mixture of:
Danish, Spanish, Mexican, Native American, Swedish, Irish and a dash of English...
from his dad he gets:
Native American (Cherokee & Choctaw), Japanese, African American, English and Jewish...
I think he is so handsome...with all his many different pieces of nationalities...just like a beautiful mosiac...the more differences their are...the more beautiful it becomes!
and so much more interesting with all his combinations...

Once Jordan came home from school during Black History Month...
and told me what some unkind kids had told him at school:
"if this was back then,  you'd have to ride in the back of the bus!"
My reaction was: "what!?!?"
Jordan said:
"you want to know what I told them?.....
I said, I'm kinda light skinned...so I'd actually sit in the middle of the bus!"
Me and Jordan both started laughing so hard!!!!
He is so smart and witty...I couldn't have thought up a better response!

It's a little ironic that people would leave all kinds of racist comments about my Jordan on youtube, the day before Martin Luther King Day...

Martin Luther King was an incredible man, with remarkable wisdom, and he showed God's love and wisdom to so many people filled with hate and anger...and so many people who were hurt and crushed...

here's a beautiful part from his famous, "I have a Dream" speech, that I love:

But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.

One of my Grandma,
Barbara Johnson's, favorite saying was about having boomerang joy...
you throw out a boomerang of joy and love, and it will always come back and fill you up with more love and joy....
some sad people throw out their boomerangs of hate and anger...and the sad thing is...it will always come back and hit them with a huge dose of hate and anger!

Let's start throwing out those boomerangs of love and joy!

No power to the Haters!

"is this hater worth giving away my happiness to them?"....
NO WAY!
On Youtube, yesterday one of my "due date" videos got featured on the homepage....which means that thousands of people that normally wouldn't ever see my videos, will.
It means I will read some of the most discusting, evil, cruel and horrible things below my video....
Some people wrote things calling me all kinds of awful names...saying horrible things like they hope I die in labor and I can't even say the disgusting and cruel things they said about this precious baby that is still growing in love in my belly.
It went on to my other videos where people were saying disgusting and racist things about my Jordan...who is part African American, Japanese, Native American and English and that's not inlcuding all the nationalities that I donated to him.

Sometimes you need to take a break from something that is just spewing out badness....
as I read all these awful comments....
the ones about me are not nice...but when you insult one of my precious babies, or anyone that I love...it bothers me because I don't EVER want any of my loved ones to read that!

WE HAVE THE POWER TO LET THINGS OFFEND US....
I will not give my joy and happiness away to someone who is writing cruel things from behind the safety of their silly username and computer, or someone that cuts me off in traffic, or like all the grumpy people we come in contact with everyday!
The  DO NOT GET the power to take my joy away!
I will not give it to them.
My HAPPINESS is here to stay.
Instead of praying for people to be nicer to me....
I'm going to pray that no matter how mean people are to me...that I won't allow them the power to take an ounce of my happiness or peace!

No one knows us truly...people can hurl all kinds of assumptions, opinions, and cruel things at us...
but I will not give them the honor of having the power to let it effect me!

Since I am ready to have baby any day know, and wisdom speaks to our hearts that we need to surround ourselves with positivity, love and happiness...
not cruel and evil things (like the comments were...which I finally went on youtube and disabled)...
it was time to recharge and take a break from reading that!

I want to thank all my precious Kandee Family for leaving each one of your kind words and comments...
you have no idea how much I treasure the love in everything you take time to type!

I feel like my heart is this big treasure chest filled with sparkly jewels of love that each one of you have placed there....
thank you so much!!!!

I love you all so dearly...and I thank you so much for letting me into your hearts!
Let's stand strong....and say, "sure you are entitled to you opinion, however wrong, ridiculous, or mean it might be.....but I am entitled to not let anything you say be powerful enough for me to hand you over my happiness!"

huge love...and hugs...your kandee

Peek in My Closet & today's make-up!

I am in the process of "unpacking" my closet....(and yes I think I will be having an "ebay-garage-sale" after going though a bunch of my stuff...I'll post it here or on facebook...but it won't be for a few weeks or so!)
I have fallen in love with a hanger! These "skinny hangers", that are velvety, and feel like they are flocked, like a christmas tree- are amazing! Not only can you fit like 50% more clothes in your closet because of their "skinny-ness"....but your clothes do not slip off the hangers! I love these...I got mine for super cheap at Marshall's and in hot pink!...they were way more expensive at Bed Bath & Beyond...and they only had cream and black.

DAILY QUOTE:
FASHIONS FADE, STYLE IS ETERNAL - Yves Saint Laurent

And here's a special treat for my "blog family"...it's just a fun "non-tutorial-ish", peek into my daily make-up routine...and some hair teasing...and Blaker running around in the background! ha ha
Let me know if you like this little bonus video...this will not be on youtube either....I want to do some special stuff for all my "kandee blog family"....I heart you guys and all your comments that make my heart so happy!!!
HAVE FUN AND COME WITH ME AS I GET READY!!

Small Towns breed people with BIG Creativity

I was born in LA...and moved to a small town near Lake Tahoe when I was some age right before 12-ish.
And the first chance I had to leave...I took it...left for Asia when I was 16...after that I lived in all kinds of states...and finally back in LA....
I miss LA...I've lived all over LA...from Hollywood to Orange County to Santa Monica...and I've loved everywhere.
I am currently living back in the "mountainy" area near Lake Tahoe and Reno...
and even though I may be desperately missing LA...my creativity isn't limited to where I am!
I will have a creative haven no matter where I live...I will make my house a creative sanctuary ...ha ha ha...It will be like an art gallery/creative studio...ready to rival any studio in any big city! ha ha ha

If you are living somewhere that is a small town...that you feel isn't creative enough....
you are the creativity..not the city you live in!
Here's some super cool and creative people that have come out of the same area I live...
just to show you....amazingly creative people that have come from small towns...they all are taking up residence in LA now...
- he will be world famous for his photography soon,
his images amaze anyone no matter where he is, no matter what he is shooting...
he does things with photography that no one has thought of...
- fun, sweet, and knows the best places to eat, it's hard to decide which is more captivating...his personality or his photography...as well as being a creative force to be reckoned with...and he takes a darn good picture.
another friend that shows you, creativity is not where you came from "the creativity comes from your heart"...Adam smiles makes you smile...(he was, ME and Tessa's sidekick when I got my SUPREME necklace, and he's the one that gave me the Ashbury sunglasses...
...he had just shot for their catalog. Please check out this blogpost about this wedding he shot...so cool!
my pretty friend...who is a skillful wardrobe stylist, has been in the make-up artist world, has modeled and is now a super cool, girl DJ! We've worked together on shoots- I dazzled hair and make-up...and she dazzled the wardrobe..the funny thing is we met in LA, even though we were both from the same "land of the boonies"! ha ha ha

can do some awesome hair...she is adorable and even though we are both living  far too north of LA for our liking...she looks more stylish than most girls in LA on any day! (photo of Bethanie by our fab friend from above, Justin Sullivan..whom I met through Tessa! ha ha)
Me and Bethanie have worked on fashion shows together...and man she does some of the best glam hair ever!
SOME AMAZING MAKE-UP ARTISTs and TALENTED PEOPLE FROM SMALL TOWNS TOO:
Kevyn Aucoin - Louisiana
Billy B-  Mississippi
Christian Siriano (project runway fame)- Maryland
Many more...but I'd have a super long blog! ha ha ha

Some of my most creative friends don't live anywhere near a metropolis of any kind! My friend who made my watches...lived in the middle of the forest for while...and left LA to go to Portland...
he has too many skills and talents to list....he is a furniture designer and craftsman now, BUT he made all my cuff watches that I have...he doesn't make them anymore, but I think if he did he'd have a blooming business!
I hope this inspires you...
no matter where you live...
where you feel "stuck"...
it takes more creativity and bravery to be creative in a small town...
stand out of the crowd...be different...
some people from "little" towns...have the biggest creativity...
especially when your only inspiration was your own thoughts...
it's easy to be creative in a creative place...but the true test is when the only inspiration is you!
Shine that creativity from where ever you are...
your house in a little town in Texas can be cooler than any New York City loft...I've seen some of the coolest dressed, most individual-styled people in places other than NY and LA!
If you in a big city...hooray...I love NY and LA! And if you're not...
it doesn't matter...the internet can be your window to the world...
keep rockin that style no matter where you are...
and your creativity doesn't care what it looks like outside your window...it just cares that you're creating!
HUGE LOVE AND THE BIGGEST DOSES OF CREATIVITY....
love the girl who lived on a ranch and had to go out and feed our cows and Llamas, but would listen to old jazz records and paint for hours when I came home from school.....kandee

Thank you POPCREATOR!!!

Dear Popcreator,
I may have never met you in real life...but you have given me a gift that I will treasure always. You have captured my essence in probably countless hours of editing...to make this beautiful glimpse of the joy I love sharing with the world!
I can't thank you enough...this is like a virtual photo album...of video and pictures...
tears fell down my face as  I watched this..and I could feel the love put into it...and as I read the comments below the video...my heart definitely grew in size, feeling everyone's love...
my heart is so happy...and I want you all to know how much I love, cherish, and appreciate every love-filled word you write....
I am humbled and honored to be a part of your hearts and lives...
"souls don't need to meet each other...they can feel the love of someone they've never even seen up close with their own eyes".....
and if no one has told you yet today....
"I believe in you and I LOVE YOU!"

Strawberry Shortcake Hair...

i wish my hair grew out of my scalp this color! ha ha ha My little Alani and I both wish our hair was this color.
(this is actually a wig I used to do the Jessica Rabbit Make-Up Look i did!)
I've had red hair before...it was pretty short, right below my ears....but I loved it! ha ha ha I should do a blog about all the different hair styles, cut and colors I've had! Right after I finished beauty school...I would change my hair color almost every month!
my platinum hair (AKA white..ha ha ha)...nad my super short cut was one of my favorites too!
I'm feeling a new hair change coming up!!! Not sure what I want to do....but something fun!

Treasures in my PO Box!

I hadn't gone to my PO Box in a looooong time...it's not so near my house. I thought the postman was joking when he said he needed a dolly to bring it all out! hee hee
OH WHAT WONDERFUL TREASURES AWAITED ME IN ALL THIS CARDBOARD COVERING!

Look at all this "fun-ness"...that was just waiting for me at the Post Office! Everyone knows me so well...I get things that I absolutely love!!!! My kids love it...they sit or help me open things and we all get so excited!!! (The Kitchenaid wasn't a gift...just another box that needs to be unpacked! ha ha)
I love this lollipop...it is the size of my head!!! love everything in this picture!!!
I won't publish everyone's names on the internet here...but I must tell each of your precious heart that sent me a treasure box...brightened my kitchen, my day, and all my little people's day so much with your love-filled-and-beautifully-wrapped treasures from your heart!
Even my friend, Cardi sent me a new feather earring because I lost my last one! I love this one...and she knows how I love turquoise! hee hee You can email her here: cardibeutler@hotmail.com

and sometimes..the decorations of the boxes, cards and letters are so beautiful I just want to frame them!
Thank you everyone who sent me treasures of gift or treasures of words..in precious hand written cards and envelopes! I read every card and letter...and I wish I had time to personally respond to each one! Thank you so much, it felt like Christmas and my birthday all rolled into one!
huge love....and rhinestone encrusted letters...your kandee

How to Highlight Cheekbones Like a Pro!

People always ask me how I get a "dewy" skin look even though I make-up on...(foundation, concealer, powder...all that jazz)...and how I highlight my cheekbones!
So here's my Pro tips for highlighting those cheekies and a bonus nose slenderizing and straightening trick!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
cream highlighter (I've tried so many, and these are  the ones I've tested on tv and film shoots, in magazines and in HD, and on location for live appearances on tv and weddings...and these are the ones that look amazing..not all crazy sparkly and glittery!)
~I love SHELL (cream color) from MAC (Shell is great for medium to dark skin tones) a soft beige pink
~Pearl (cream color) from MAC is good too (great for more fair skin) a light gold with icy shimmer
~SIN from Urban Decay is gorgeous too! A beautiful Champagne color.

And remember my "make-it-last" rule-
WHENEVER YOU USE A CREAM, YOU NEED TO LOCK IT IN PLACE WITH A POWDER ON TOP
My Favorite powder highlight colors are:
MAC Iridescent Loose Powder in SILVER DUSK- a pinky beige with silver shimmer-
*great for pale to medium skin tones

MAC Iridescent Loose Powder in Golden Bronze - a golden brown with bronze shimmer
*great for medium to dark skin tones

And this is the best make-up brush for applying a highlighter...
A Duo Fiber (it will probably be made of Taklon) Make-Up Brush~ it will give you the lightest application, which is essential for highlighting

WHAT TO DO: (besides watch the video below!ha ha ha)
STEP 1~ First apply your foundation like normal. Do any contouring...and blush....LAST THING
YOU PUT ON...think of it as the sprinkles on top of the icing!
PAT your cream highlighter onto the top of the cheekbones and down the center of the nose (as I show in the picture above in the hot pink areas)
STEP 2~
Apply the loose highlight powder on top of the cream with a Duo Fiber Brush
It's FAST, EASY and adds so much glowy, dewy, cheekbone goodness!

Do the steps in the video on the bridge and plane of your nose, to make your nose look straighter and more symmetrical too!

Now watch me demonstrate how to do it!
