I want a mustache!

actually I always wanted a goatee, so I could ponder my thoughts and pull on my goatee! ha ha ha
I actually can't stand beards on guys though! And I was so stinkin' excited on Valentine's Day when my boyfriend shaved his beard off! I don't like any facial hair really, except for maybe a goatee...it hurts to kiss a guy with a hairy face, it's like kissing a cactus!

But I have to say, the weirdest thing I've ever seen on my face, was this facial hair I did for the Jack Sparrow look (you know, JD, our beloved Johnny Depp from Pirate's of the Caribbean). I laughed everytime I walked by the mirror and saw myself!

HOW TO GLUE ON A FAKE BEARD, MUSTACHE OR GOATEE!
(this is so funny if you are a girl!)
things you need:
spirit gum (and spirit gum remover)

a fake beard or mustache kit (mine was the Jack Sparrow one)
a small pair of scissors

Have fun with your new stash'...it's a fun way to scare your friends! ha ha ha...my son thought it was hilarious...and I'm sure my neighbors that could see me making this video through my windows, thought I was a nut! ha ha ha
huge love and even bigger mustaches, kandee
(sidenote: my son helped me this video...he told me to put in all the sound effects! And then we had to watch em like 7 times! IT was so fun to edit a video with him!)
Enjoy our video!

How to Look Like Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow

Yo ho! Yo Ho! I pirate's life for me! We pillage we plunder, we rifle, we loot! Drink me hardies yo ho!
Ahoy there me mates of make-up!  I be bringin' to ya the finest in make-up tricks..fer our dear CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW!
Oh we love us some Johnny Depp characters!
Not to mention, Pirate's of The Caribbean, is one of my favorite rides at Disneyland!
I actually borrowed this Jack Sparrow wig, from my son, who got it at Disneyland.
I also used the St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse to make me look a little sun-kissed and tanned, like a
"man of the sea" would look! ha ha ha
and I "blacked-out" my teeth with  Cinema Secrets Temporary Tooth Color (this stuff is just fun to have all the time, I put it on at a shoot, just to be funny one day!), and it's only about $4.50! Buy some, just to have fun on your next outing! ha ha ha

I had so much fun making this video! I hope you like it and it makes you laugh!
Make sure you watch the end for the "hillbilly pirate part"!

have a fun-tastic day.....your Cap'n Kandee

Edward Scissorhands!!!!

the real Johnny Depp as Edward Scissorhands

Kandee Johnson (ha ha ha) as Edward Scissorhands

i love Johnny Depp...I think he is such an amazing and organic, actor....so real and vulnerable. I think that's why Edward Scissorhands is so loved...he is fragile and vulnerable...and you want to hug him..even with scissors for hand-shakers!

HERE What I used for a costume:
black motorcylce jacket...black leggings wrapped around my neck and a belt with metal rings...you could find much better costume accessories at www.hottopic.com, I bet!

FOR MAKE-UP....
Lise Watier concealer wheel in the green and lavender (you can get this at www.naimies.com, tell them I sent ya, they are so nice!)
La Mer pressed powder on 01 cream (it's worth every extra dollar....I love this stuff!)
BLUNT from MAC for contouring
Black eyeliner (to contour nostrils)
Elmer's Glue to conceal eyebrows (watch this video to see how...CLICK HERE)
Lip color - dark plumb color eyeshadow from MAC (Deep Damson)
Liquid Latex and Duo Eyelash Glue for scars (you can get liquid latex here CLICK HERE)
I used eyeshadows in white, medium warm brow (all MAC shadows) CORK, grey brown COPPERPLATE, cool chocolate brown (Charcoal Brown), light brown (Omega), purple-plumb (BlackBerry) and purple grey (Quartz)...

Enjoy this look...it was so fun! This video and blog were made with love...

Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp in Alice In Wonderland) Make-Up

and here's Johnny.....
(Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland)

when I was 12...I auditioned for the role of Alice, in Alice In Wonderland..it was a musical.
I got the part (insert...YAY!)...I made my outfit...a NEON Alice In Wonderland...3 tiered neon orange, green and pink skirt
neon shirt...neon headband, and some sort of brightly colored footwear, I'm sure....memory is a little hazy...ha ha ha
I sang, I wandered (under pink and orange stage lights)...talked to caterpillar's...
it was fun....every night, I loved it!

My favorite part about make-up, is the art and creative thinking that is involved...
this look was so fun to come up with...as an artist, this is my favorite...really "painting" and "designing" a look...

for the EYEBROWS...I first tried a gigantic pair of fake eyelashes...they looked bad....then I remembered I bought feathers for the Marie Antoinette look....so away I went to glue some feathers for eyebrows....I like the "Artsy" feel that they gave...very ethereal!

may I mention, that I really like Johnny Depp...(even when he was on 21 Jump Street...ha ha ha)

HAIR COLOR TIP: spend an extra dollar and buy the good hair color spray...mine was the store brand (Target, Wal-Mart, etc)....and it stunk, didn't really cover well....spend the extra 75 cents or so...it's worth it!

(before the ceremonial 10 face washings....to remove all feather-glue traces...)
watch and enjoy...please feel free to make a video response on youtube if you do this look! I'd love to see!
have a great day...remember "It's NEVER TOO LATE, to be who you might have been"- George Herbert (Julia Child was in her 50's when she started cooking!)
huge smiles, kandee
